Tooth Colored Fillings

In the past, cavities could only be treated with unsightly metal fillings that were alloys of silver and mercury. These fillings, especially when close to the front of the mouth, were highly noticeable and unaesthetic. Modern dentistry has increasingly turned to tooth-colored or composite fillings as a strong, safe and more natural looking alternative. Composite fillings utilize a soft white plastic substance that is hardened with a blue light. These fillings are ideal for initial cavities and ones where the majority of the tooth remains intact.

Inlays/Onlays

For teeth that are missing a large portion of their surface area due to cavities or trauma, a more durable material is indicated. Using our CEREC technology we can produce a gorgeous all ceramic inlay/onlay that can service your tooth for many years to come.

Crowns

When a tooth is fractured, has a large old filling, or is severely damaged by decay, we may recommend the placement of a crown. Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your smile. Traditionally this was done over at least two appointments and required the use of a temporary crown in the interim. Now we can achieve this in one simple appointment using CEREC technology.

Bridges

With dental implants becoming the standard of care in tooth replacement, old style dental bridges are rarely used anymore. There are a few instances when a bridge is indicated over an implant. This will be discussed on a case by case basis.

Partial Dentures

While partial dentures act as a temporary solution to tooth loss, in the long run they cause more harm than good. To wear partial dentures, adjacent teeth become compromised – first to accommodate the retention of the denture. Then, after longterm use, they often cause cavities and gum disease on adjacent teeth. Ultimately, they end up causing a cycle of tooth and bone loss. To end this cycle the only permanent option is dental implants. Complete Dentures

In the unfortunate circumstance of complete tooth loss, complete dentures are an option. Most often, the person wearing the denture experiences pain and discomfort as the bone of the jaw deteriorates and causes the denture to move and rub the overlying gums. This bone loss continues throughout life and worsens the overall fit and retention of the dentures. Eventually the person will get to a point where it is impossible to achieve a stable fitting denture as the denture rocks and moves as much as a centimeter while in use. The only way to stop bone loss and improve chewing ability, is with dental implants. Implants can permanently stabilize the denture and arrest the bone loss.
